How is all this sneezing not bad for the baby?

For the last three days, I've been fighting a cold/fever/congestion. Ppbbllaaaahhhh! This normally wouldn't have been a big deal... One Dayquil tab in the morning, Alka Seltzer Night Time Cold at night. Done. Well, not while pregnant! Tylenol. That's it. Tylenol. So, the first night I woke up multiple time cause for some reason someone was squeezing my head with a vice.

Hey, maybe I could drink my favorite sickness tea Throat Coat. Great stuff. Check with doctor if pregnant. Ok, maybe not. Oooh, I've got some chamomile tea... again, big fat no for pregnant women. So, I drank hot water with honey and lemon.

I called two of my sisters to ask for advice, they do have 7 children between them after all. No help. "Deal with it." I think this was an exact quote. And yes, I do realize I'm a nurse, but if someone's pregnant we send them home. I don't do pregnant as a nurse!

Yesterday, my fever got to a 100.0 and so I went to the doctor. It's a cold. I woke up this morning and did 10 minutes with towel covered head over steaming water. But I think I'm finally feeling better.

Also, I've discovered a miracle drug. Zofran. It's this tiny tab that I put under my tongue and it takes away my nausea and lets me eat! How cool!

By the way, how is it possible that all this forceful sneezing isn't driving the baby crazy? He or she is probably wondering why their mommy is so violent!

9 weeks tomorrow!

you should be able to take tylenol cold. I took it with all 3 of my pregnancies. I always seemed to get a cold. Almost every medicine will say if pregnant ask a doctor. Did your doctor not give you a list of over the counter meds that were safe to take? Mine gave out a list with lots of different meds that were ok to take for different things.... So give them a call!
Dont worry the baby is tucked nicely away in its little balloon cushioned in all that water to protect it from all your violent sneezing!! LOL! He or She is probably not even noticing anything but a few extra waves! Happy Sneezing!

I did talk to my doctor, Tylenol (plaino-jaino) was it. And you're very lucky cause Phenylephrine, which is in Tylenol Cold, is known to cause birth defects in the first trimester and decreased oxygen flow to the baby.

My doctor wouldn't even let me use Throat Coat which is an herbal tea to help colds!

Randi, I just found your blog, gotta love FB :), and love hearing about this baby path your on. I always had a love/hate relationship with morning sickness. I loved it because it represented a healthy babe but being so sick took away my functionality as a person. Have fun and I amso glad you are 1/4 of the way to holding your little one.
