Tomorrow, we will be 31 weeks pregnant! Baby Adalynne is moving around like a little alien inside my belly. I so wish I knew which part of her was moving, but I can't tell. Is it a foot, an arm, her elbow???? No clue! It's exciting to watch... just as long as she doesn't rip my belly open and come out looking like an alien!
This week, I have been WORN SLAP OUT! (That's very exhausted for those non-southerners reading this.) It has ended up that I have a respiratory infection and started antibiotics today. Baby doesn't seem to mind, it hasn't slowed her down any.
Papa (Shannon's dad) was so sweet and sent us her carseat last week and I must say that we still have the base strapped into the van. It's cool to imagine that in just a few weeks we'll be driving her home in it! We love the carseat and we love that it's neutral so we can use it with a son in the future.
We were able to find a dresser last weekend for the baby's room. It's an antique dresser we got on Craigslist. When we showed up to look at it, low and behold, the girl selling it for the owners was Shannon's tutor that works in his classroom. Even though she didn't know it was us coming to look at it, she had already negotiated a better price for us. We ended up buying it for about half of the original asking price. We will be able to use the marble top for a changing table. Because we're accenting the baby's room with a crystal lamp and door knobs, we are going to change the drawer pulls to crystal pulls. (They should be half off at Hobby Lobby next week!) Now, the only decision is which style??? There were several to choose from.
We still have TONS to do to get the nursery ready. We are still looking for a recliner for the room. From talking to other moms, the ever famous glider rocker is actually not very functional or comfortable and it has been recommended to us to get a regular ole rocking recliner. So, that will be our next hunt. I also think I want an open bookcase type piece to put open bins in with random baby "stuff."
We're so blessed to find out that we will be having 3 showers over the next couple of months. The first is at Shannon's work, then one with our church and then one with my work. I'm excited and think it will be fun! I will also be attending lots of showers over the next few months as I have a zillion pregnant friends. Ok, so the actual # is 24.
Our last weekend away without children is planned for this weekend!!! Pray that I get to feeling better and that tickle is Shannon's throat doesn't turn out to be my germs growing in him. Saturday morning we are going to Dallas to see the King Tut exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art. These tickets have been paid for for months... Then we will eat dinner at Chamberlain's Fish Market (fancy pants place in Dallas) and then spend the night at the Grand Hyatt DFW (thanks to the buy two nights get one free Hyatt promotion).
Our hearts are also heavy this weekend because Sunday would have been Sue's birthday. It's still hard for both of us to believe she's gone. I know Shannon's picked up the phone to call her and almost every weekend I think, "tell Shannon to call his mom." There's been so much about the baby that we've wanted to call and tell her. I expect this feeling will get harder when the baby gets here.
By the way... Braxton Hicks contractions are no foolin'. Wowwy Zowwy! Like every other part of pregnancy, I had this crazy idea that I would just bypass that "DOP" (Discomfort of Pregnancy, as my OB reminds me of at every visit). Oh no! It's so weird to stand up and my belly doesn't want to stand up with me. Not painful so much as just odd!
I guess that's about it for now.
